Southeast Ohio is rich in history, going back to the days of the Shawnee native american tribes that covered these hills, and the pioneering settlers who ventured out of the eastern cities into the "wilderness" west of Philadelphia.
Daniel Boone wrote in some one of his journals that he explored every tributary flowing into the Muskingum River between Zanesville and Marietta in what was then known as the Northwest Territory -- now the state of Ohio. One of those tributaries into the Muskingum flows across this property.
Did Boone walk through or alongside these creeks? Who knows?
If you have an interest in history, the Morgan County Historical Society is a great place to stop and learn. It is definitely worth a stop and lengthy visit.
